Creation of an incredible carton-pierre console, designed and imagined by Charles Tassin, interior designer and founder with Maylis Tassin of GALERIE MAY, rue de Lille in Paris.
Charles Tassin was inspired by the works of the Florentine Renaissance painter Paolo Uccello, and more specifically by his masterpiece “The Battle of San Romano”, painted between 1456 and 1460, which pitted Florence against Siena in 1432.
The carton-pierre material used to make this sculpture is an environmentally-friendly material made from waste paper and textiles. This technique, used since the 18th century in the decor of the Château de Versailles, enabled decorative elements such as mouldings or sculptures to be created from textile fibres, paper and/or cardboard mixed with mineral powders and natural glues.
