Louis XV style, rosewood, gilt bronzes, Minéral d’Art and parchment – GME 18748
Around furniture overlooked by history and devoid of significant patrimonial value emerged a research approach rooted in responsible transformation and material reuse.
Commissioned by the Mobilier national, which granted carte blanche to reinterpret this so-called “aliénée” chest of drawers in rosewood and gilt bronze, topped with a red Languedoc marble slab, designer Thierry Bétancourt and visual artist Louis-Marie Vincent conceived a radical sculptural intervention.
A monumental cloud, shaped using the Minéral d’Art technique developed within MAISON LOUIS-MARIE VINCENT, envelops the piece almost entirely. This exclusive material transforms the historic object into a contemporary artwork while preserving its original function, establishing a renewed dialogue between heritage, material innovation, and artistic creation.
